Perched high within the foothills of Torrens Park, this extraordinary 1,000sqm residence was designed as a dramatic architectural response to its steep hillside location and sweeping panoramic views across Adelaide. Originally conceived as a simple pool enclosure, the project evolved over almost six years into a highly customised, multi-level luxury home defined by oversized glazing and technically advanced architectural detailing.
Our scope of works included all external and internal aluminium framing and glazing.
A defining feature of the home is the custom 6-metre-high glass curtain wall with spider fittings that delivers uninterrupted full-height views in the dramatic two-storey indoor pool and entertainment space. 24 high-tech grey tinted insulated glass panels were selected to manage solar performance and privacy. Other key features included full-height sliding glass doors, an extra large set of glass feature louvres and what was at the time considered Australia’s largest domestic electric sliding glass window.
Constructed on a steep and logistically challenging site, the project required significant coordination across all trades, with materials and structural elements often needing to be handled in difficult access conditions.
The completed Jones Residence stands as a statement in contemporary residential glazing design, combining commercial framing systems, advanced glazing technology and highly customised architectural detailing within one of South Australia’s most distinctive private homes.
